WhatsApp is one of the best encrypted chat programmes that work from one end to the other. It is updated often with new WhatsApp tips tricks and works with a wide range of devices. If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s a great way to send messages instead of SMS or the less popular RCS. If you use WhatsApp often, you may know a lot about what it can do, but you might not know everything.
We have compiled nine different strategies to help you get the most out of the widely used messaging app. These features are demonstrated on a Google Pixel 6, but they are available on any smartphone or tablet that runs the Android operating system.
Share your live or current location to a WhatsApp contact
Using WhatsApp, you may quickly and easily let people know where you live as well as where you are at this same moment. If you wish to set up a time and location for a meeting, you may also tell individuals where neighbouring places are located. People exchange their locations with one another via Google Maps.
- Tap the paperclip button in the message box.
- Tap Location.
- Tap one of the location options.
- Choose how long to share your live location. The option are 15 minutes, 1 hour, or 8 hours
- Tap the Send button.

If you share a lot of videos and photos with a contact, your storage may fill up quickly. Follow these WhatsApp tips tricks to delete all of your media at once after you’ve backed it up to an app like Google Photos.
- Tap the three-dot button in the upper-right corner of your screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Storage and data.
- Tap Manage storage.

- Tap the Select all checkbox, or tap individual photos and videos.
- Tap the Delete button in the upper-right corner of your screen.
Find out your data usage
If you don’t have a plan that gives you unlimited data, you will have to limit how much data you use. It only takes a few taps inside WhatsApp to get this information.
- Tap the three-dot button in the upper-right corner of your screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Storage and data.
- Tap Network usage.
Bold, italicize, strikethrough, or monospace text
WhatsApp lets you format text with bold, italic, strikethrough, and monospace. There are WhatsApp tips tricks you can do. The first way is to highlight a message and then press the button for the format you want to use.
You can also add symbols that look like HTML to either side of a message. This is set up like this:
- Bold: Add an asterisk (*)
- Italics: Add an underscore (_)
- Strikethrough: Add a tilde (~)
- Monospace: Add three grave accents (“`)
See who reads your group message
WhatsApp uses checkmarks to let you know which messages have been sent, received, and read. But blue checkmarks only show up on a group chat message after everyone in the group has read it. Use these steps to find out who has read your message.
- Tap and hold on a message.
- Tap the i button at the top of your screen.
- Here you can see who has read your message and when they’ve read it.
Change your backup settings
When you first used WhatsApp, you may have been asked to back up your messages. It is important to do, just in case the worst happens. Even if you have backed up your communications, you should check the settings for your backup.
- Tap the three-dot button in the upper-right corner of your screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Chats.
- Scroll down and tap Chat backup.
- Tap Back up to create a backup immediately.
- Tap Back up to Google Drive to change your backup schedule.
End-to-end encryption and the option to back up over data are two other helpful features.
