Get Started- How to use Facebook Business Manager for 2023

If your business is on Facebook, you should use Facebook Business Manager. It is an important tool for keeping all of your Facebook business assets in one place, safe, and easy to manage.

Use Of Facebook Business Manager

If you haven’t set up Facebook Business Manager yet because you don’t know how it works, there’s good news. In just 10 easy steps, this article will show you how to make an account, place your first ad, and do everything else.

But first, we need to answer an important question: what is Facebook Manager?

What is Facebook Business Manager?

“Business Manager is a central place for managing business tools, business assets, and employee access to these assets,” says Facebook.

In a sense, Facebook Business Manager is the center of all marketing and advertising on Facebook explains. You can also control who has access to your Instagram account and product catalogs, among other things. Here are some of the most important things it does:

  • It keeps your professional activities separate from your profile, so you don’t have to worry about posting in the wrong place or getting distracted by cat videos when you’re trying to work.
  • It’s a central place for keeping track of Facebook ads, with detailed information about how well they’re doing.
  • It lets you give access to your pages and ads to merchants, partners, and agencies without giving up control.
  • Your coworkers can’t see any of your personal information on Facebook. They can only see your name, work email address, pages, and ad accounts.

Now that you know what Facebook Business Manager can do for you, let’s get you set up.

How to Set Up Facebook Business Manager?

Step 1. Create a Facebook Business Manager Account

Creating an account is the first step in setting up Facebook Business Manager. You must use a personal Facebook profile to prove who you are, but as we’ve already said, your coworkers and partners won’t be able to see your personal information on that account.

  1. Click the big blue button that says “Create Account” at the top right of the business.
  2. Type in the name of your business, your name, and the business email address you’ll use to manage your Facebook Business Manager account, and then click Next.

  1. Give the address, phone number, and website for your business. You must also say if this Business Manager account will be used to promote your own business or to help other businesses (like an agency). When you’re done, click the button that says “Submit.”Form fields to add in business details on Facebook
  1. Check your email for a message that says “Confirm your business email.” Click the Confirm Now button in the message.

Step 2. Add Your Facebook Business Page(S)

At this step, you can choose from a few different things. You can either add a business page that already exists on Facebook or make a new one. If you manage Facebook pages for clients or other businesses, you can ask to see someone else’s page.

This last difference is very important. You can manage Facebook pages and ad accounts for clients with Facebook Business Manager, but you have to use the Request Access option instead of the Add Page option. If you add your client’s pages and ad accounts to your Business Manager, they will not be able to access their business assets. This is a sure way to stress out your business connection.

For this post, we’ll assume that you’re managing your assets and not working for an agency, so we won’t talk about the Request Access procedure. Keep this difference in mind, though.

We have a guide on how to make a Facebook business page, so we’ll assume you already have one to add to Business Manager. If you haven’t made your page yet, please go to that post and come back here to add it to Facebook Business Manager.

Follow these steps to add your Facebook page to Facebook Business Manager:

  1. From the Business Manager dashboard, click Add Page. Then, in the window that pops up, click Add Page again.Option to add a page when setting up Facebook Business ManagerAdd Page button on Business Manager setup
  1. Type the name of your Facebook business page into the text box. Your business page’s name should fill in automatically, so you can just click on it. Then click Add Page. If you are an administrator for the page you want to add, your request will be approved automatically.

Option to add a Facebook Business Page by company name

  1. If your business has more than one Facebook page, you’ll need to repeat steps 2 and 3 for each page.

Step 3. Add Your Facebook Ad Account(S)

You can’t take your ad account out of Facebook Business Manager once you’ve added it, so you should only add accounts that you own. Instead, click Request Access to get into a client’s account.

If you already use Facebook ads, here’s how to link your existing account.

  1. Click Add Ad Account on the Business Manager dashboard, then click Add Ad Account again.

If you don’t already have a Facebook ads account, here’s how to make one.

  1. From the Business Manager dashboard, click Add Ad Account and then Create Account.Add Ad Account button on Facebook Business Manager setup
  1. Enter the information about your account, and then click Next. Adding company details window
  1. Say that you will use the account for your own business, and then click Create.Option to choose who the ad account will be used for

Each business can make an advertising account right away. Once you start spending money in your first advertising account, you can add more accounts based on how much you spend on advertising. It’s not possible to ask for more advertising accounts.

Step 4: Add People to Help You Manage Your Facebook Assets

Marketing on Facebook can take a lot of time, and you may not want to do it all by yourself. You can add team members to Facebook Business Manager, so you can have a whole group working on your Facebook business page and advertising campaigns. This is how you put your team together.

  1. From your Business Manager dashboard, click on “Add people.”
  2. In the pop-up window, enter the business email address of the team member you want to add. This could include workers, people who work for themselves, and business partners. During this phase, you only add people, not agencies or other businesses (you can do that in the next step).

You can choose to give these users limited access to their accounts (by choosing Employee access) or full access to their accounts (by choosing Full access) (choose Admin access). You can get more specific in the next step. Include the work email addresses of each person. Then click on Next.

In the menu on the left, you can also choose to add people to libraries and apps, but you can ignore those for now.

  1. To add more people to your team, click “Add New People.” Click the Done button when you’re done.
  2. At the moment, you have to wait for each person you invite to join your Facebook Business Manager team to say yes.

They will each get an email with information about the access you’ve given them and a link to get started, but it’s a good idea to write them a personal message or tell them directly that you’re giving them access and that they can expect the automatic email with the link.

Access given screen

From your dashboard, you can see all of the requests you’ve sent out and cancel any that haven’t been answered.

If a user leaves your organization or gets a new job, you can take away their permissions. Here’s how:

  1. In the top right corner of your Facebook Business Manager dashboard, click Business Settings.
  2. Click People in the menu on the left.
  3. Click on the name of the right person. To get rid of them from your team, click Remove. Or, move your mouse over the name of a certain asset and click the trash can icon to get rid of it.

Step 5: Connect Your Business Partners or Ad Agency

This may not apply if you’re just getting started with Facebook advertising, but you may return to this step at any time.

The business you just added can manage access for their teams using their own Facebook Business Manager account. So, you don’t have to give and manage permissions for each person who works on your account at your agency or partner company; you only have to do that for the partner company itself.

Step 6: Add Your Instagram Account

After setting up your Facebook assets, you can connect your Instagram account to Facebook Business Manager.

  1. In the top right corner of your Facebook Business Manager dashboard, click Business Settings.Adding Instagram account to Facebook Business Manager
  2. Click Instagram Accounts in the column on the left, then click Add. Enter your Instagram login information in the box that pops up, then click Log In.
